Aconex → Procore
What you do in Aconex today, and where it lives in Procore. Start with the first row; most of the rest follows from it.
In AconexIn ProcoreWhat changes
Each organisation owns its documents→The project owns everythingThe biggest shift. In Aconex your firm’s documents sit in your organisation’s space and you transmit them. In Procore the builder’s project holds one register and your company is invited in with permissions.
Documents register→Documents tool + Drawings toolDrawings get their own tool: upload a PDF set and Procore reads sheet numbers and titles, then stacks revisions under each sheet. Reports, specs and everything else go in Documents.
Document number, revision, status codes→Drawing number, revision, drawing set, disciplineKeep Archicad layout IDs identical to Procore drawing numbers. That is what makes revision stacking (and the A-100 register here) work.
Transmittal (mail)→Transmittals · distribution listsMany Procore teams stop transmitting drawings. Publishing a set notifies the distribution list and logs who viewed what.
Mail type: RFI→RFIs toolEach RFI has a ball-in-court owner and a due date. Link it to the drawing it concerns and, here, to the programme task it blocks.
Mail types: Site Instruction, Notice, General→Correspondence toolYour Procore admin sets up custom correspondence types (Site Instruction, EOT Notice and so on) so the registers feel familiar.
Supplier Documents / review workflows→SubmittalsSubmittals run step by step (subcontractor → builder → architect → engineer) with required-on-site dates you can tie to MS Project tasks.
Document review workflows→Document approval workflowsFor design documents that need sign-off before issue. Ask what your company has turned on.
Field: inspections, defects→Inspections, Observations, Punch ListMany Australian teams rename Punch List to Defects. Items can be pinned straight onto a drawing sheet.
Connected BIM / Models→Models · Coordination IssuesUpload the federated model and raise issues against it. Archicad talks to it through IFC (the model) and BCF (the issues).
Tender→Bid ManagementA separate module. Not needed for drawings, programme or issues.
Mail audit trail→Change history on every itemEach RFI, submittal and drawing revision keeps its own history and email log.
Aconex programme / schedule upload→Schedule toolUpload the MS Project file to Procore’s Schedule tool so everyone sees the same programme. Re-upload each revision.
